Each month we will be posting some of the musical selections that have been doing the rounds in our music systems.
This month we have been listening amongst others to:
-
World/Electronic/Mid-Eastern
Artist-Azam Ali
Album title-Elysium For The Brave
Favourite track-Endless Reverie
Ali is an Iranian born Canadian singer that fuses Mid-eastern/Sufi/electronic and pre baroque singing styles. Fans of Lisa Gerrard and Dead Can Dance can compare singing styles and rejoice. Very melodious, in places haunting music. Not the greatest recording, but the music and Ali's voice will more than make up for the lack of hifi brilliance.
Artist-Liquid Soul
Album title-Make Some Noise
Favourite track-Salt Peanuts
This Chicago based group of musicians is taking off where US3 left, with Jazz and blues being woven in to a remixed interpretations. This is a very big band of talented guys re inserting fan and wit in to the stodgiest bebop pieces one can imagine. Mixed, mushed , sang and preformed in one of the most creative ways around. Rock

Artist-The Steve Miller Band
Title-Fly Like An Eagle
Favourite Track-Fly Like An Eagle
A reminder of the explosion of talent and energy of the end of the 60s. Miller is combining blues, rock and folk music which is influenced by the "Hippie" fashion of his time. For those who have been around and can't remember, for those who are much younger and are looking to discover the energy of a generation that once believed it can bring on a change to the American way of life.
